25 September, 2008 Margarita

Yesterday I had pizza 'Margarita' as a meal at my place of work.

It was thin but so large that I couldn't eat all!

Needless to say, it was really delicious.

Then I have brought the leftover of it and some barbecue meats the other co-worker gave me to my home and ate today.

I could finish cooking just by putting them in an oven for about 10 minutes.

It helps me to save the cost of living.

But maybe my weight is gaining day by day.

昨日、職場でピッツァ ’マルゲリータ’をまかないで食した。

薄いがあまりにおっきくさすがに全部は食べれなかった。

言うまでもなく味は最高。

ピザの食べきれなかった分と、同僚がくれたバーベキューミートを持って帰って今日食べさせていただいた。

オーブンに１０分突っ込んどくだけで調理終了。

いい生活費の節約になる。

けど多分、日に日に体重が増してる。

18 September, 2008 Cold Day

Today was cloudy and terrible cold day.

Yesterday was so warm that I could go outside with being lightly dressed, but today became so cold and dry suddenly.

I felt winter is coming soon.

I brought my favorite clothes for winter from Japan, but my failure is that I didn't bring my muffler.

In winter I will have cold days whose temperature is below zero.

Moreover it is so dry in winter and bad to my skin.

I felt a little bit nervous.

今日は曇りでとっても寒かった。

昨日は暖かくて薄着で外出できたのに、突然今日になって寒い上に乾燥。

冬はもうすぐそこ。

日本からお気に入りの冬服を持ってきたが、マフラーを持ってこなかったのは失敗だった。

冬には零下の日が何日もあるだろう。

その上冬はすごく乾燥するので肌に悪い。

ちょっとナーバス。

15 September, 2008 Telephone

Most public telephones in Vancouver are managed by TELUS.

TELUS is like NTT in Japan.

To my surprise, we can use them however long we want in the city by just 25cent.

It is same to call the cellphone, too!

Of course it is impossible to call abroad.

I have used them several times, but actually some telephones are darty.

I often see the homeless use it.

Now I don't need them because I have my cellphone.

I don't want to use them if possible in the future.

バンクーバーの公衆電話のほとんどはテルアスという会社が運営している。

テルアスは日本のNTTのようなもの。

驚いたことに、市内通話はたった25セントでどんだけでもかけ放題！

携帯電話へも同様！

もちろん国際電話は無理。

何度か使ったことがあるが、中には汚い電話もある。

ホームレスの方が使っているのも見たことがある。

今は携帯電話があるので必要としないが、できればこれからも使いたくない。

11 September, 2008 SHOPPERS

There are many drug stores in Vancouver.

I remember the SUGI PHERMACY in Japan when I watch them.

I often go to the SHOPPERS which is one of famous drug store companies to buy a shampoo, a body soap,foods and others.

I think they sell items most cheaply.

Finally I made the Optimum Card which is a member's card of SHOPPERS.

I can get 10 points everytime I pay 1dollar for buying something.

Then I can get 5CAD reward value when I save 3,500points.

Ummm, it takes so long time.

Anyway I will make a member's card at shops I often go shopping for saving the cost of living.

バンクーバにはたくさんのドラッグストアがある。

それを見ると日本のスギ薬局を思い出すなあ。

僕はシャンプー、ボディソープ、食料などを買いにショッパーズという有名なドラッグストアの内の一つによく行く。

そこが一番安いと思う。

ついにショッパーズのメンバーズカードを作ってしまった。

１ドルのお買い物につき10ポイントもらえ、3,500ポイント貯めると5ドルの割引。

うーん、先の長い話だ。

とにかく、生活費を抑えるためによく行くお店のメンバーズカードを作ってみようと思う。

10 Sepetember, 2008 First Pay

Yesterday I received the first pay in Canada!

The pay was about working for 11 days from 13th to 31 th in August.

By the way it is common in Canada to give a pay with a cheque, my pay was too.

I earned 840CAD which was almost as much as I expected.

But I must pay three kinds of tax, which was totally 120.56.

How expensive the tax is!

It is about 14%!

Unbelievable!

Although I will be able to take back a part of them later by tax return, it is too expensive.

As a result I could have 719.44CAD.

Besides I could have a tip which was 100CAD because yesterday was the day for it!

I was really happy and today I went to the bank to deposit it in my account at once.

I can use this pay after a week because it takes short time to exchange a cheque.

What will I buy with this money?

昨日、カナダでの初めてのお給料を頂いた！

お給料は8月13－31日の間に、11日働いた分のもの。

ちなみにカナダでは給料は小切手で払われるのが普通、僕のもそう。

予想通り、840CAD稼いでいた。

が、３種類の税を払わなければいけない、それが合計120.56CAD。

とんでもなく税金が高い！　

約14％！

信じられん！

後に確定申告する事で一部は取り戻せるものの、高すぎ。

結果として719.44CAD手に入れることができた。

その上、昨日はチップがもらえる日だったのでさらに100CADゲット！

ほんとに嬉しかった、そしてさっそく今日銀行に行って預金してきた。

小切手の換金はちょっと時間がかかるので、一週間後には今回の給料分のお金を使うことができる。

なに買おうかな。

We can go anywhere by using the bus or the skytrain which is managed by the Translink company in Vancouver.

A lot of people like workers, students, travelers use it everyday.

The fee depends on the zone you move to.

It takes 2.5CAD per time for moving in one zone, by the way monthly ticket is 73CAD.

A ticket for two zone is more expensive, I have forgotten the price.

The Skytrain comes to the station about every five minutes.

I used it in June and July from the Broadway station in the suburb to Burrard station in downtown for school.

To my surprise, every skytrain station doesn't have a ticket gate!

If I try to use it for free, I can do it!

I think some people must do it actually.

Sometimes staffs check at the station, but it is inefficient work.

I have heard the Translink company entrust people's conscience, but I think they lost a lot of their profit badly.

バンクバーでは、トランスリンク社に運営されているバスやスカイトレインを利用して色んな所にいける。

労働者、学生、旅人など毎日たくさんの人々が利用している。

利用料は移動する範囲による。

１ゾーンの範囲内なら１回2.5ドル、ちなみに１ヶ月定期券は73ドル。

２ゾーンだともっと高いが、値段は忘れてしまった。

スカイトレインはだいたい５分おきに来る。

僕は６、７月に郊外にあるブロードウェイ駅から、ダウンタウンにあるバラード駅まで通学のため利用していた。

驚いたことに、全ての駅に改札が無い！

ただ乗りしてやろうと思えばできちゃうんです！

実際にそうしてる人は間違いなくいると思う。

たまにスタッフが駅でチェックしてるが効率悪すぎ。

トランスリンク社が人々の良心に委ねていると聞いたことあるが、残念なことに多くの利益を失っていると思う。

3 September, 2008 The library in downtown

In Vancouver there are several libraries.

The one of them in the picture above is in the downtown and located near my apartment.

Sometimes, no, rarely I go to there for studying English.

There are lots of books, CDs, DVDs in the library.

For borrowing them we need the library card , which is easy to make.

Then we can do the Internet by it for free.

I have already made it and borrowed one book once, but I haven't read it at all yet...

バンクーバーにはいくつか図書館がある。

上の写真の図書館はダウンタウンにあってアパートから近い。

時々、いや、たまーにそこに勉強しに行く。

図書館には本、CD、DVDがたくさんあります。

それらを借りるためには図書カードが必要だけど作るのは簡単。

それからカードがあればインターネットもただで利用できる。

既にカードを作って一度だけ本を借りたがまだぜんぜん読めていない。。。
