30 September, 2008 Yaletown

In Vancouver there is an upper-class residential area called 'Yaletown' which is one of tourist areas.

But It is very small compared with Beverly Hills in America.

An apartment in that area is so huge expensive that I may never be able to buy in my life.

(It is an overstatement.)

On the other side, we can see a lot of stylish restaurants and shops like clothes, wine, furniture and arts.

Of course they are not cheap.

Buildings in this area are built of brick and sightseeing is so-so good.

I'll be good man enough to live in this town, someday.

バンクーバーには観光地の一つに’イエールタウン’と呼ばれる高級住宅地がある。

ただアメリカのビバリーヒルズと比べるととーっても小さい。

この地域にあるアパートはあまりにも高い、おそらく一生をかけても決して買える事は無いのではと思う。

（それは言いすぎかな。）

また、そこにはたくさんのお洒落なレストランや洋服屋、ワインショップ、家具屋、アートショップがある。

もちろん安くは無い。

建物はレンガで作られてて景色も悪くは無い。

この街に住める人間になってやる、いつか。

28 September, 2008 Yokoyaya

There is the shop named 'Yokoyaya' near my apartment.
At that shop we can buy products of 'Daiso', which is famous for selling all items 100YEN apiece in Japan!
But actually products of that shop are all 2dollars apiece.
I know it because it takes a lot of costs to import products from Japan.

I have been there to buy slippers, a towel for body washing and others.
Japanese products sold by 100YEN apiece are better than the 1dollar shop's selling in Vancouver as I expected.

アパートの近くに’ヨコヤヤ’とい名のお店がある。
そこでは何と、日本で１００均で有名なダイソーの商品が買えてしまう!
ただ実際には、全ての商品は２ドル。
まあ日本から輸入するのに金かかるだろうから理解できる。

そこにスリッパ、体を洗うためのタオルなどを買いに行ったりした。
やっぱり日本の１００均の商品はバンクーバーの１ダラーショップのよりもいい。

27 September, 2008 Taking a rest before working

It was so good weather that I could feel comfortable outside very much today.

But I had to work from 6:00pm to midnight.

Before working, I took a rest in the small park on the way to my place of working with a tall coffee of Starbucks.

By the way I always buy a tall coffee by 1.73CAD including tax at Starbucks and drink it with nothing.

It's the cheapest one.

"Tall" is the smallest size at Starbucks in Vancouver.

They don't say 'small' differ from Starbucks in Japan.

I wonder it.

Anyway I could feel relaxed and a little bit happy.

I wish I always had a good weather like today.

今日は天気が良く、外はとても快適だった。

ただ夕方６：００から深夜まで仕事。

仕事の前に、途中ある小さな公園にてスタバのコーヒーでちょっと一息。

ちなみに、スタバではいつも税込1.73ドルのトールコーヒーを買って何も入れないで飲む。

それが一番安い。

バンクーバーのスタバでは”トール”が一番小さいサイズ。

日本とは違って”スモール”とは言わない。

何でやろ。

まあそれはそれとして、くつろいでちょっとした幸せを実感。

いつも今日みたいな天気だといいのに。

25 September,2008 Washing clothes

These days I had bad weather like the picture above.

In Japan, Madam may say "It is trouble not to dry the washing."

In Vancouver, generally there is a dry machine in most houses or apartment because we have a lot of rainy days in winter.

It looks like that we don't have a trouble about washing clothes, but actually we should watch that our clothes become smaller by using a dry machine.

Some of my favorite t-shirts have already been smaller by it.

I did mistakes.

I have to dry some clothes in my room.

最近は写真のような天気の悪い日ばかり。

日本だと、奥様方は「洗濯物が乾かなくて困るわ。」と言ってるとこだろう。

バンクバーでは、冬は雨の日が多いため一般的に乾燥機が大抵の家やアパートにある。

一見、洗濯には困らないように見えるが、実際には乾燥機によって服が小さくなってしまわないように気をつけなければならない。

既にお気に入りのTシャツが小さくなってしまった。

やっちまった・・・。

一部の服は部屋干ししなきゃいけない。

25 September, 2008 Margarita

Yesterday I had pizza 'Margarita' as a meal at my place of work.

It was thin but so large that I couldn't eat all!

Needless to say, it was really delicious.

Then I have brought the leftover of it and some barbecue meats the other co-worker gave me to my home and ate today.

I could finish cooking just by putting them in an oven for about 10 minutes.

It helps me to save the cost of living.

But maybe my weight is gaining day by day.

昨日、職場でピッツァ ’マルゲリータ’をまかないで食した。

薄いがあまりにおっきくさすがに全部は食べれなかった。

言うまでもなく味は最高。

ピザの食べきれなかった分と、同僚がくれたバーベキューミートを持って帰って今日食べさせていただいた。

オーブンに１０分突っ込んどくだけで調理終了。

いい生活費の節約になる。

けど多分、日に日に体重が増してる。

18 September, 2008 Cold Day

Today was cloudy and terrible cold day.

Yesterday was so warm that I could go outside with being lightly dressed, but today became so cold and dry suddenly.

I felt winter is coming soon.

I brought my favorite clothes for winter from Japan, but my failure is that I didn't bring my muffler.

In winter I will have cold days whose temperature is below zero.

Moreover it is so dry in winter and bad to my skin.

I felt a little bit nervous.

今日は曇りでとっても寒かった。

昨日は暖かくて薄着で外出できたのに、突然今日になって寒い上に乾燥。

冬はもうすぐそこ。

日本からお気に入りの冬服を持ってきたが、マフラーを持ってこなかったのは失敗だった。

冬には零下の日が何日もあるだろう。

その上冬はすごく乾燥するので肌に悪い。

ちょっとナーバス。

15 September, 2008 Telephone

Most public telephones in Vancouver are managed by TELUS.

TELUS is like NTT in Japan.

To my surprise, we can use them however long we want in the city by just 25cent.

It is same to call the cellphone, too!

Of course it is impossible to call abroad.

I have used them several times, but actually some telephones are darty.

I often see the homeless use it.

Now I don't need them because I have my cellphone.

I don't want to use them if possible in the future.

バンクーバーの公衆電話のほとんどはテルアスという会社が運営している。

テルアスは日本のNTTのようなもの。

驚いたことに、市内通話はたった25セントでどんだけでもかけ放題！

携帯電話へも同様！

もちろん国際電話は無理。

何度か使ったことがあるが、中には汚い電話もある。

ホームレスの方が使っているのも見たことがある。

今は携帯電話があるので必要としないが、できればこれからも使いたくない。
