28th October, 2008 Turkey

Yesterday I got big turkeys like the picture above at my workplace.
In addition to the one in the picture, I have one more.

One of my boss asked me 'Do you want this turkey?'
I answered soon 'Yes, I want!', but I wonder how I should cook this.
Besides it, big two turkys need much spaces in a refrigerator and it cause roommates inconvenience.
So I have to do something about it.

First of all, I cut just parts to eat and threw borns away.
I will make it broiled and eat.

28th October,2008 Autumn

It is already end of Autumn in Vancouver now.
We can see autumn leaves in the city.
It is cold.

23th October,2008(4) dinner

Then we went to another Mall and had a snack 'Hot Dog' at Japanese shop there.
It was so-so good.
There were lots of Japanese food menu like the picture above.
You know some menu seems to strange, like Cheese Ramen.

After seeing the sights of the MAll, we went to the restaurant 'Hong Kong Cafe' to have a dinner.
I ordered grilled Chicken with garlic sauce, rice and coffee.
It was just 7CAD.
Chicken was good, but rice was so bad.
I couldn't' eat all of them.

Today I could enjoy to visit Richmond.
My impression is that this city is like China town because I saw just Chinese there.
There was no Canadian and no people from other country.

That's just what one would expected of the country of immigration.

23th October, 2008(3) Daiso

It took for about thirty minutes to arrive at Richmond.
We visited a kind of Chinese Mall and went to Daiso.

It was bigger and more items than Yokoyaya.
The price is same, all items were 2CAD.
There were many items I rememberd seeing in Japan.

I expected that most customers are Japanese, but actually there were only Chinese customers.
I looked for Japanese salt and pepper, but I failed.

Since I didn't need other things especially, we left.

23th October, 2008(2) GAS STATION

Today we decided to go the city 'Richmond', where is south side from Vancouver, and got into his car.
Before leaving there, we went to a gas station.

In Vancouver, gas price is about 1.14CAD per liter.
I have no idea whether it is expensive or not, but I have heard gas price had been higher day by day.
I just know it is cheaper than that in Japan.

In Japan now it is about 150YEN per liter, but last August it was about 180YEN.
I think it became really high.

23th October,2008 Ken

Today I went outside with my friend, named Ken.
He is the twenty six years-old guy from Hong Kong and has lived in Vancouver for twelve years.
So he can speak English very well, and studies accounting at university now.

He has his own car which is new, clean and made by TOYOTA
He listens to Japanese music like WANDS, Mayo Okamoto and Miki Imai while driving.
(They are all old songs.)
He likes Japan and Japanese women very much.
Sometimes he goes Japanese girl hunting to the library in downtown.
(Actually I have witnessed his doing it.)
Moreover when he found girls looks like Japanese while driving, he suddenly turns his car to follow them and shouts to them 'Hey! Chick!'.
Then he leaves.

He is strange and funny guy.

22th October, 2008 Lowell goes back to Korea

Today my roommate 'Lowell' went back to Korea.
He will stay there for about one month and come back here again.
Then he's going to meet his family and girlfriend.
I can enjoy my private room for a while.

If you have enough time and money, come here for a trip.
You can use my room now.
Of course I don't need money and you can save accommodation charges.
Well. I'm looking forward to seeing you.

19th October, 2008 Leftovers

Today's topic is about a meal again.

A dish in the picture above is all leftovers from my workplace.
They are fried rice, mashed potatoes and clam chowder.
Certainly they are all delicious, but fried rice is not good.
So I added seasoning with blackpepper, butter and soysauce.
It became better.
I complain about the taste of higher restaurant(maybe).

I didn't need to buy any foods today.
I wll take leftovers like them again.

18th October, 2008 A Street Performer

Before working, I become calm by watching a street performance.
It was so-so fun.
But I didn't give money because I am a cheap person.

16th October,2008 Drunk

Today I went to have a dinner to a Korean restaurant with Korean friends.
I ordered a meal like a beef soup, but it was not good.
The beef was a little bit bad smell and the soup was no taste.
I will never eat it again.
Then we toasted with Soju.
After it, we drunk some beer at friend's apartment.
I may sleep well tonight.

16th October, 2008 Premier league

Finally I could watch the soccer game in Premier league on line.
The game was between Chelsea and Manchester City.
I could watch famous players like Robinyo, Doroguba and others performing.
The result was that Chelsea won by a score of three to one.
I enjoyed it, but all comments was in Chinese.
(Actually I watched just last 10minutes.)

16th October, 2008 MLB.com

Today Matuzaka who is most famous Japanese baseball player in MLB pitched in the game of postseason with DevilRays.
He couldn't perform well, but the team have done miracle!
(Actually I watched only the result.)
I expect that Redsox go to the next stage, World Series and I can watch the Matuzaka playing again.

15th October, 2008 The snack of dried fruits

This is one of my favorite snacks.
It is a kind of dried fruits and delicious for me.
It is the original product by SHOPPERS and we can buy at only that store.
Though its price is usually 2.49CAD, it become 1.69 on sale.
I will buy it again when it's on sale.

14th October, 2008 Job interview in Japanese

Today I had a job interview at the Japanese company which publishes a free Japanese newspaper named 'Oops' in Vancouver.

A start was that I talked with a Japanese woman who had worked as a salesperson at that company.
She was like she had visited some local companies in Vancouver without appointments and invited to make advertisements.
I was really interested in that job and decided to apply at once.

But the result was terrible.
I felt totally nervous and answered to their questions like robots in spite of the job interview was in Japanese.
I couldn't impress myself well.
Even I haven't had a job interview long time, I should have done well.
Although they would tell me the result later, I guess I will fail.

I have to be ready for answers and practice more.
Then I will try to apply a job as a salesperson to other company again.
Before it, I need to analyze myself.
I remember job hunting in the time I was an university student.

12th October, 2008 Newcomers

Today newcomers started working as a dishwasher at the Sandbar.
In a sense they are younger workers of me.

The one is named 'Nelson', who is forty eight years-old men.
He must be Asian, but I don't know where he is from yet.
Maybe I guess he is from China.
Next time I work together I'll ask him.

The other one is named... I forgot.
He is from Philippine, twenty six years-old man.
He arrived at Vancouver three days ago.
He was like he sends money to his family in his hometown every week.
When I listened it, I thought his responsibility was totally different from me.

Actually it is difficult and interesting for me to teach how to work in English.
But I often feel my English isn't improved.

9th October, 2008 VIOLATION

Today I finally did it...
I was arrested by the police in the skytrain because my ticket was illegal.
I had used the ticket when I went to my destination, but I didn't use it in return.
At one station, suddenly two policemen had came into the skytrain and started to check passenger's ticket.
When one of them watched my ticket, a look of him changed.
Then he made me get off at the next station.
I pretended I couldn't speak English well and that I didn't know the rule because I expected he would forgive me when he knew it.
But he gave me a violation ticket without mercy.
An amount of money I must pay as a fine is 173CAD!
Pardon me...
The policeman said like this phrase 'You have to follow the rule in Canada because you're in Canada.'
He was absolutely right.
Then he asked me to write my signature to a paper, but I never did it.
It was too expensive to study it.
The cold weather has set in, to make matters worse, I also became short of money.

6th October, 2008 TV

I found an interesting thing on Internet!
There isn't a TV in my room, but now I can watch some TV programs in the world by Internet.
Of course I can watch Japanese programs relayed live, and American, Chinese, Korean and Europe, too.
I can enjoy watching news, sports and entertainments in the world by it.
I want to watch Europe soccer games, but I haven't succeed yet.

A quality of the picture and sound isn't good, but I am satisfied with just watching it.
Something is convenient with the world these days.

1 October, 2008 Soju

After finishing moving, we drunk together.
I bought 'Soju' which is famous Korean liquor, and presented it for Kido as the celebration of moving.
By the way we can buy Soju at just 1CAD apiece bottle in Korea, but in Vancouver we can buy at about 10CAD.
It's so strange.

He likes it and I'm crazy for it.
An alcoholic content of Soju is about 20%, but I don't feel so strong.
I can drink it rapidly.

I really recommend it to you.

1 October, 2008 Friend's moving

Today one of coworkers moved to other apartment.
He is a Korean guy, named Kido.
I went to his apartment and helped him.

To tell the truth, the apartment didn't look good for me.
Of course he liked it.
Compared with my apartment, the building is older and dirty.
The kitchen is small and smell bad a little.
The bathroom is dark and not clean.
I couldn't believe three Korean women had lived here before.
By the way the rent fee of this room is 830CAD per month.
Moreover, he said he had to pay over 1,000CAD because of taking over a set of furniture like a bed, a table and others.

I could feel I was really lucky to live in new apartment cheaply.
